Hardie sidelined by quad strain but Morris returns while Boland rested

Australia
Allrounder Aaron Hardie will miss Western Australia’s upcoming Marsh Cup and Sheffield Shield matches against New South Wales in Sydney due to a quad strain.
Hardie, who recently missed out on the Australia T20I squad to face India after the ODI World Cup, is only expected to be sidelined for a short period with WA aiming for him to return against South Australia on November 15.

Hardie made 99 in his last Shield outing against South Australia, the game where he picked up the injury, and his absence will impact the balance of WA’s side with him having played an important role with the ball.

Cameron Gannon was also injured in that match and is ruled out of the SCG game, but WA are able to bring back quick bowler Lance Morris who was rested against SA as part of his CA-guided workload management.

Morris won’t feature in the Marsh Cup game at Cricket Central on Saturday that precedes the Shield match. Jhye Richardson remains sidelined after recently dislocating his shoulder in a 2nd XI game.

Uncapped left-arm wristspinner Hamish McKenzie features in both the one-day and four-day squads while 18-year-old pace bowler Mahli Beardman could be in line for a List A debut.

Nathan Lyon has been rested for the Marsh Cup encounter but he is expected to feature in the Shield game at the SCG as he continues to build towards a Test return after injury.
Meanwhile, Victoria will be without Scott Boland for their Shield match against Tasmania at Junction Oval as he also has his workload managed ahead of the international summer.
