It may not have been termed “ball of the century”, as was Shane Warne’s first ever ball on English soil 12 years earlier. But it was one of the leg spinners most memorable. It pitched way outside off stump and spun two and half feet to bowl Andrew Strauss round his legs. It sparked a superb spell for Warne, and his figures of 6-46 were the best ever for an Australian at Old Trafford.
