Toss UAE chose to bat vs West Indies

UAE won the toss and chose to bat against West Indies in the first ODI series, in Sharjah on a hot Sunday afternoon. Captain Muhammad Waseem said at the toss that he felt it would be easy to put up a total.

West Indies had two debutants: spin-bowling allrounderKavem Hodge and fast-bowling allrounder Dominic Drakes. Drakes has played ten T20Is for West Indies and comes with an experience of 25 List-A games. Hodge is relatively more experienced, having featured in 47 List-A matches.
For UAE, 19-year-old left-hand batter Ali Naseer made his ODI debut.

This is West Indies’ first outing under new white-ball coach Daren Sammy.
