Toss Australia chose to bowl vs South Africa

Australia captain Meg Lanning won the toss and chose to bowl against South Africa in Gqeberha.
Australia’s star wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy was ruled out of the game “with some left quad awareness following a high workload on return to play from a significant calf injury,” according to CA. Beth Mooney will keep wicket while pacer Annabel Sutherland has come into the playing XI.

Australia have won three games on the trot in the competition, against New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, and sit atop of Group 1. A win here will confirm the defending champions’ place in the semi-final. Meanwhile, South Africa defeated New Zealand and lost to Sri Lanka and occupy third place on the table. A defeat will dent their semi-final chances.

South Africa are playing at this ground for the first time in this World Cup. It will also be the first time allrounder Marizanne Kapp will be playing at home.

South Africa: 1 Laura Wolvaardt, 2 Tazmin Brits, 3 Marizanne Kapp, 4 Sune Luus (capt), 5 Chloe Tryon, 6 Delmi Tucker, 7 Nadine de Klerk, 8 Sinalo Jafta (wk), 9 Shabnim Ismail, 10 Masabata Klass, 11 Nonkululeko Mlaba

Australia: 1 Beth Mooney (wk), 2 Ellyse Perry, 3 Meg Lanning (capt), 4 Tahlia McGrath, 5 Ashleigh Gardner, 6 Grace Harris, 7 Annabel Sutherland, 8 Georgia Wareham, 9 Alana King, 10 Megan Schutt, 11 Darcie Brown
