Australia chose to bowl against Zimbabwe

Australia had the chance to exploit the early-morning conditions in Townsville after Aaron Finch won the toss to start a long home international season.

Australia confirmed their XI yesterday with Marnus Labuschagne left out as they continued to field an allrounder-heavy side. Mitchell Starc will play his 100th ODI.

Zimbabwe were forced to make a late change with the experienced Sean Williams scrubbed from the team sheet and replaced by Wessly Madhevere in what was a major blow to both their batting and bowling. Tadiwanashe Marumani also came in at the top of the order to replace Takudzwanashe Kaitano from the team which played India.

They only arrived in the country on Thursday and have had two training sessions to prepare for this match – their first game against the hosts in Australia since 2003-04.

This is the first international in Townsville involving an Australian team.

Australia: 1 Aaron Finch (capt), 2 David Warner, 3 Steven Smith, 4 Alex Carey (wk), 5 Marcus Stoinis, 6 Mitchell Marsh, 7 Glenn Maxwell, 8 Cameron Green, 9 Mitchell Starc, 10 Adam Zampa, 11 Josh Hazlewood
