Australia won the toss and decided to bowl against Sri Lanka

Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first in the second ODI, as both sides made changes forced by injury.

Left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann makes his debut for Australia. He was called into the squad only yesterday, and gets the chance on the back of his 3 for 43 in Colombo for Australia A last week. He replaces Ashton Agar who is out of this match with a side strain. Mitchell Swepson, the legspinner, also plays this game, with Australia choosing to drop seamer Jhye Richardson and strengthen their spin stocks.

With Marcus Stoinis ruled out due to a more severe side strain of his own, Travis Head also comes straight out of the A squad and into Australia’s XI. Head hit 110 for Australia A in that same match in Colombo.

Sri Lanka made only a single change to the side that lost on Tuesday, bringing in legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay to replace Wanindu Hasaranga, who is out with the groin strain he picked up in that previous match.

Rain is always around at Pallekele at this time of year, but conditions were relatively clear at the toss.
