Sams, Starc, Agar in for the hosts; Cummins and Zampa rested

Toss Australia chose to bowl vs Sri Lanka

Star allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga will miss Sri Lanka’s must-win third T20I against Australia in Canberra after testing positive to Covid-19, as the hosts won the toss and elected to bowl.

Sri Lanka’s bid to stay alive in the five-match series was dealt a blow when Hasaranga, who claimed five wickets in the opening two matches, returned a Covid-19 positive Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on the morning of the match.

He was replaced by legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay as Sri Lanka received a boost with the inclusion of batter Kusal Mendis, who returned after serving a seven-day isolation following a positive Covid-19 result.

Australia made three changes as they aim to clinch the series after tight victories in the opening two matches in Sydney. With Steven Smith out of the series due to concussion, allrounder Daniel Sams received an opportunity along with spinning allrounder Ashton Agar while quick Mitchell Starc returned after being omitted from the second T20I match.

Quick Pat Cummins and frontline spinner Adam Zampa have been rested.
