Visitors hand left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie international debut

Toss West Indies chose to bat vs Pakistan

West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran won the toss and opted to bat first in the third and final T20I in Karachi. The visitors handed left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie an international debut, while Darren Bravo returned to the side after recovering from a non-Covid illness.
Earlier in the day, the game was put in jeopardy after Shai Hope, Akeal Hosein, and Justin Greaves tested positive for Covid-19 but both teams decided to go ahead with the match.
That, however, meant West Indies had to field a severely depleted side, as they were already without Sheldon Cottrell, Roston Chase and Kyle Mayers – all three had tested positive at the start of the tour – and Devon Thomas, who has a finger injury.

Having taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, Pakistan decided to rest Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf. Mohammad Hasnain and Shahnawaz Dahani replaced them.

The match is being on the same pitch as of the first T20I, where Pakistan had posted 200 for 6 batting first. It’s once again a well-rolled surface with few visible cracks, so expect more of the same.

Pakistan: 1 Babar Azam (capt), 2 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 3 Fakhar Zaman, 4 Haider Ali, 5 Iftikhar Ahmed, 6 Asif Ali, 7 Shadab Khan, 8 Mohammad Nawaz, 9 Mohammad Wasim Jr, 10 Mohammad Hasnain, 11 Shahnawaz Dahani

West Indies: 1 Brandon King, 2 Darren Bravo, 3 Shamarh Brooks, 4 Nicholas Pooran (capt, wk), 5 Rovman Powell, 6 Romario Shepherd, 7 Odean Smith, 8 Dominic Drakes, 9 Gudakesh Motie, 10 Hayden Walsh Jr, 11 Oshane Thomas
