Toss Ireland chose to bat vs West Indies

Ireland captain Laura Delany won the toss and opted to bat against West Indies at Newlands.
West Indies made three changes to the side that had lost to India on Wednesday, although two of them were forced. Stafanie Taylor and Chedean Nation were out injured, while Shakera Selman was left out; in their place, West Indies brought in Zaida James, Trishan Holder and Aaliyah Alleyne.

Cricket West Indies had confirmed before the toss that Nation was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury. Meanwhile, Taylor was stretchered off the field against India with what seemed to be a recurrence of her back injury.

On the other hand, Ireland fielded an unchanged XI that faced Pakistan in their previous match.

Both teams are yet to post a win in the tournament. While Ireland have lost to England and Pakistan, West Indies were unable to beat either of England and India. As a result, Ireland are last placed out of the five teams in their group, with West Indies just above them in what is virtually a must-win match for both teams to harbour hopes of a semi-final spot.
