UAE ask Sri Lanka to bat with both teams desperate to win, and win big

Toss UAE chose to bow vs Sri Lanka

UAE won the toss and chose to field first in Geelong, in what is a must-win match for both sides, who are still looking for their first points in the tournament. UAE captain CP Rizwan explained his decision by saying he suspected dew later in the evening, which may make bowling difficult.

Both teams made one injury-affected change to their XIs from the opening games. Danushka Gunathilaka is out for Sri Lanka with a hamstring injury, and is replaced in the top order by Charith Asalanka. UAE, meanwhile, are without seam-bowling allrounder Zawar Farid, and have replaced him with left-arm-spinning allrounder Aryan Lakra.

With Netherlands having beaten Namibia earlier in the day, there is a possibility that the qualifiers to the main draw will be decided by net run-rate, which means UAE and Sri Lanka will not merely seek to win, but win big. The weather is not forecast to interrupt play.
