The offspinner takes the place of George Linde, who is unavailable due to his impending wedding

Simon Harmer has been recalled to South Africa’s Test squad, after last playing for South Africa in India in 2015. The offspinner has found a place in the 17-member squad for the two-Test tour of New Zealand as a back-up to Keshav Maharaj, and in place of George Linde, who was unavailable for selection due to his impending wedding.
There is also a recall for seam bowler Lutho Sipamla, who missed out on the tour of the West Indies and the home series against India.
