Craig Ervine won the toss and inserted Ireland under cloudy skies in the second ODI in Belfast. Zimbabwe made a solitary change to the side that won the first ODI, with Milton Shumba replacing Dion Myers in the XI.

Ireland, though, remained unchanged from the 38-run defeat in the previous match.

The visitors bagged crucial ten Super League points after what was just their second win in the cycle leading up to the 2023 World Cup.
